Oh man, it’s been a while since I heard this track when it was originally released back in 1994, which is about lucky 13 years ago Yo!! It still sounds dem fresh and vibin if u know wahdamin. What I really dig about the vibe to this whole track is the Guitar licks sampled from the “Superappin’ theme” from non other than Hip Hop maestros Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
Old Skool stylin rhymes and phat graff lines suit this soundtrack visual perfectly (reminds me of the Wildstyle movie back in the early 80’s). It’s one of those tunes that everyone just goes crazy banana’s and want to showcase their poppin and lockin, puma’s and boogaloo stance. The verses are just slick and smooth flavas lahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh WORD TO THE MO.
Lucky for you folks out there, Blue Note Records re-released this same album in 2005 with a couple of added features such as this Elaine Brown Mix and the newly remastered sound from the original analog tapes. Thanks to the vision of Eli Wolf, A&R for Blue Note, we the audience get to really appreciate good quality releases from this astounding label. Another point to note from this album, is the other tracks that will sure to ring a bell and put a smile to headz out there. Check out some other sick tracks such as “Nickel Bags”, “Where I’m from (remix version)” and of course the ever popular “Rebirth of Slick” (cool like dat).
What else can I say folks, “check clear” and make sure u lock in this LP in your collection. :)
Tangkap This!!!
