Musicality runs deep in the blood, especially for this Jackson Family (Not your Jackson 5 crew) but West Coast soul and jazz heads Otis Jackson Senior, Otis Junior AKA (MADLIB) and younger bruddah Oh No.
The Disrupt, is the first full-length offering from multitasking California rapper and producer Oh No. The full length is kind of a family affair with Madlib behind the engineering and mixing board and Oh No on emcee for most parts. On the whole, The Disrupt has sounds similar in the veins of predecessors of the West Coast underground hip-hop styles such as Peanut Butter Wolf and, of course, Madlib. The album has about 17 tracks which showcases a collection of singles featuring a framework of different tempos, tones and musical atmospheres.
I guess I chose this spot light track due to the fact it has that heavy weight groove samples at the backdrop, yet at the same time shows how the underground head-knodder is done. ; ) In light of Hip Hop being commercial and compared to Pop music these days, I strongly urge you eager groovin folks out there to check out tunes from Oh No, in particular this LP.
It could perhaps make your sexy dance a bit more stylish.
