I’m a bloody kotek, confirmed kotek. Sometime ago, I told Crispian I wasn’t feeling Rance Allen Group, but last week I put the Mizell record on, and the track Reason To Survive came on. Ten re-plays later, I am fully convinced that I’m a bloody kotek.
It’s been a while since I kerna the flying feeling from any song. Reason To Survive is TKO from the start to the end, and it doesn’t hurt to have the Mizells onboard. This is CLASSIC rare-groove Comet straight from Cosmic Soul Space!
The group consisted of brothers Rance, Tom and Steve, and were originally under Stax label. The lead vocals supplied by Rance are spiritual and uplifting. My hair stand when he hits moments of falsetto. ‘Reasons To Survive’ is a very positive song, simply reminding us all not to lose sight of what life is about.
The whole album oozes of sublime classics, Truth Is Marching On, Norman Jay favourite Peace of Mind, and something I like, Got To Be Ready, a nice gospel number. I salute the Mizells for the tight production in Say My Friend, they are truly the Masters of the Jazzy Feel. I really don’t need to elaborate any further, just listen for yourself.
For the record, I wanna state that everyone should listen to music without prejudice, keep a positive outlook on life and always heed what Uncle Lye says. Happy B Day Kiat!
