After a weekend of jazzin’ and absorbing massive inspirations over in Jakarta (Java Jazz) with the boys, I head home to find myself chilling to the old skool jazz sounds of GRP don, Mr. Dave Grusin. This is one album on CD you should get your hands on as it spans a very nice spread of jazz styles and moods over a 12 year period from 1976 to 1988.
The track in focus is the first in the CD titled “She Could Be Mine” conjuring up good vibes throughout from the very start of the track to the end. A nice array of musicians gathered on this one with Steve Gadd providing a solid and I must say very stylish brasilian vibe to the track. Whistles reminiscent of the samba carnival and the sick Rhodes provide a perfect situation for your goose bumps to be evident from head to toe.
All aspiring jazz fans or music junkies should check out Grusin’s discography and career history over here. My wish is to check out the Don himself over at the 2008 Java Jazz Festival. Big up to this honcho!
Tangkap This!!!
