I don’t even wanna be corny about this cut, with a combo like Franklin/Jones, you gotta have respect. Originally a Bobby Womack cut, Aretha sings her guts out on this cover version, and Quincy’s (THE MAN) magic seems to really drive the point right home.
Valentines’ is when you remember your partner and why she/he is there in the first place. Time may zoom by and but this is the day you pay homage to what you stand for as a couple. Werd.
Check out the groove of this song, it’s mad real. The multi-tracking Aretha Voices make you go weak in the knees. Man, I won’t elaborate no more, just listen to the extra long sample and you know what I mean. If that’s not enough, head to Gramaphone and pick up the CD at a cheap deal, $20 is nothing for something this good.
