Heavy, heavy, heavy “Spaced out, scorched out Screamadelica, Screamadelicaaa”. This EP was released back in 1992 by infamous UK band Primal Scream. This track truly stands out and is a cut above the rest due to the fact that they had a visionary producer Andrew Weatherall and the band’s open mindedness to sample new sounds and stretch their sounds further to new heights.
Up till today, I find Primal Scream on the cutting edge of the whole indie scene coz of their willingness to keep on staying groovy, trendy and always on top of things. I got hold of this EP from Monkey (a.k.a Ren) a couple of weeks back and was still reeling back good memories from the early days of the indie scene when I popped this CD in my player.
This EP basically contains 4 tracks and this spotlight track “Screamadelica” also happens to be the title of their full length album. The only song used in the full length album was “Movin’ On Up” and it’s also one killer track for sure.
When you look at the EP artwork with the African American girl posing at the backdrop with her tracksuit and you hear the bluesy numbers such as “Stone My Soul” and “Carry Me Home” you know you gonna be in for some mad tangkap shit and then the spotlight trackwoooooooooooooooooo steam Yoall!! “Screamadelica” is way ahead of it’s time with it’s dubby infused sounds, muted trumpets and paced down 4/4. PURE CLASS full stop!
What else can I say folks, but with Bobby G fronting the unit get ready for some heavy heavy shit! ; )
PS: Oh, I forgot to mention, the full length album “Screamadelica” won the first Mercury Prize back in 1992 and it also packs a super punch with varied styles guaranteed to make u smile. Do check out another killer track “Higher Than The Sun”. POWER FOLKS.
Tangkap This!!!
