We at Hot-4-U are no haters, neither are we eco-evangelists, but it is nice to stop and notice what’s going around us. Listening to The Message does just that. This is a MASTERPIECE of hip hop. Yes, true hip hop don’t need to rave about holes and chrome. Instead Melle Mel gives you some of the most heartfelt rhymes that dig deep into your conscience and makes you think twice about buying a Rolex.
The Message was one of the first songs with lyrics that talk about the struggles and frustrations of living in the ghetto. The beat is simple but viciously addictive. The chorus has just about the most famous lines in rap history. It’s also THAT track with the synth riff that’s been sampled to death.
