Wah lan eh!! Sweet steady laahhhh this track….! Think Back And Remember has got all the right moves in all the right places and personally for me, it’s the soulful vocals courtesy of Donnie Gerrard. Reminds me of Philip Bailey from EWF kinda style. This is as rare groove as it gets, or 2-step as they call it in UK or Zao Gngz as we call it at Hot-4-U, whatever you wanna call it, it’s damn good lahhh.

Keyboardist Jeff Lorber got the same history as most musicians of his time: played piano at an early age, formed a jazz band, produced a few fusion albums, then sold out and “evolved into smooth jazz”. Galaxian is his third album on Arista if I’m not mistaken. One of the best albums, almost every track is a killer with a different flavour, but remains consistently funky all the way. The spotlight track, Think Back And Remember really helps when I’m painting, the easy smooth groove makes me less critical and more vibed up, similar to the effects of some other things we know ;)

Other tracks include the monster funk drop of Monster Man featuring Mr Stanley Clarke, Bright Sky, Galaxian, Magic Lady, and Night Love. This album is not that hard to get and you be able to find it easily on Amazon or Gramaphone. If your taste is for early jazz-fusion with an R&B touch, this one is die die must buy.

Tangkap This!!!
