This week’s Zao Gng brings us to Brazil for some smooth GRP styled jazz flavas. Artist in mention is one of my favourite piano players, Manfredo Fest. Although I reviewed his 60s stuff last year, I thought this year might be a good idea to expose his 80s work. This fella is too power liao, so I can’t stop talking about him. Blind from birth, Mr. Manfredo Fest really demonstrates his power and control as a keyboard player in this album. The dude is NO JOKE.

Before, I start raving bout the album, a bit about the little known DMP label – pioneers of high quality digital music production for jazz lovers and audiophiles since the early 80s, the label’s approach is straight-to-the-point, no nonsense vibe. Record live studio performances without gimmickry, overdubbing or lots of editing, using only the most direct and pristine signal path possible. Fierce right?! Purist artist with purist label.. win liao.

Quite a couple of heavy hitters in this album, but I chose the ‘flow like chardonnay’ title track cos ITZ ORNNNNN Y’ALL! Haha! Folks, go and listen lah.. it’s pure Grusin smoothness The song floats, bends, flys, drops with the scat as the wind. Damn kerna. I think if you chow work and go East Coast fly kite, this will definately be the ideal track. Lakkkkkk all the way!

Also check out another favourite track from the album here on YouTube called Facing East. Another shiok song for flying kites. Trust me!

Tangkap This!!!
