WOOOOOOOOOOO….I had a super hard time picking up a spotlight track for this Zao Gng review, as there were too many tracks to choose from. It just occurred to me that the best bet would be to review something which is probably classic and yet always fresh like sushi at the same time.
3 Chairs is the name of the outfit and also the name of the compilation which features 16 tracks on a double CD set. This compilation is now 5 years old, but folks the sound is evergreen, and I really recommend that for 09 to be a swell year, you gotta get your hands on this album. According to my kaki Norm C, this genre is known as Beatdown, whereby the musicians record all instruments live, and then tweak and bastardize the whole live sound to give it a house feel (120BPM), yet super laid back and loungy at the same time. Meaning if you want to chill at the bistro and talk, or even just bop your head and snap your fingers, I say this is the shit you’ve been looking for. Class Personified!!!!!!!
Now just for you headz out there, most of you probably would know Moodyman (The King of the Detroit House sound) already. This installment brings a set of his 313 buddies together, namely Malik Pittman, Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite and Moodyman himself. Apart from the spotlight track, I would say almost every other track on Disc 1 is off da hook!!
In tough times like this and the misty outlook on the economies around the world, this tune would bring much vibe to your ears and will keep you groovin’ for months. Get your hands on this compilation if you come across it, because the only piece of advice I would be saying to you is that Itzzzzzzzzzzzz Ornnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Yoall..; )
